Using PPC as Research for Your SEO

by Noel Wiggins

I love all the acronyms that come with talking things of search engine optimization (SEO). It really makes me sound “smart”. and at times its quit fun to see the puzzled expressions on people’s faces when I talk about it.

Anywhoot, today I want to suggest a concept to help, determine what key-phrase should be used to optimize your website with. The current method is to do a KEI research on keywords, that will report which key-phrases are most popular in the internet. The problem with this type of research is that it is popular but how do we know if its popular with your actual customers. For example professional graphic design is a popular key-phrase for my industry, but who is it popular with. Is it people looking to hire a professional graphic design studio. Or is it people looking to get a job with a studio or is it other studios and designers looking for marketing ideas to use for their company?

All of these questions can’t be answered simply from looking at your web-stats.

So I suggest trying to use PPC a pay per click campaign from google ad words, to help find what key phrase will generate the best quality traffic.

Yes you have to pay, I suggest as much as you can afford to help test as many different phrases as possible. Through this testing, you can get in the first position on the first pages of all of these key-phrases, and then gauge from the quality of leads you get, and see if this traffic would be useful to your business.

This is truly an exciting way to test your campaign before your spend days weeks and months trying obtain a natural first page ranking.
