The Mobile Boom

by Noel Wiggins

If your looking for something to spice up your marketing strategy then you have to consider mobile marketing. There have been a lot of reports lately all over that “old technology” the “hellivision” reporting that the next best thing will be mobile phone applications. There was some vague stat of like 400 apps when we bought our phones (Aug of 2008) and now there is over 2 million apps now. And there seems to be no sign of stopping. In fearing that I might miss out on something I have put on my research and development list the task of looking into the technology that can develop apps for mobile phones, both for iphones and whatever system is used for verizons new “droid”.

I have to admit that this undertaking is a bit intimidating, and I ain’t looking forward to it. If its anything like web development and or dvd authoring it is sure to give me days, weeks, months and possibly years of late nights and a lot of frustration. But I can’t let the fear of doing it stop me from doing it. But before I dive into this abyss, I came across a helpful blog that gives some helpful and practical advise on this to consider before jumping in with two feet. So if any of you out there are also feeling the tug to tap into the mobile market give a read over as well.

Based on what I have read here I have updated my marketing plan, to include a mobile marketing campaign as a marketing strategy.
