The importance of A/B Split Testing in Website Design

by Noel Wiggins

Saying once you launch a website its done, is like saying that after 9 months of pregnancy your all done.

When the reality with both examples the end is just the beginning.

When you design a website you are moving forward with your best guess. The designer is moving forward with their best guess based on their design experience and qualifications, while you as the client are approving designs and adding content that you believe is the best choice, based on your experience.

A/B Split Testing is a way you and your designer can measure the success of your website and try and improve its performance.

Getting more sales is measured by your conversion rate, your conversion rate is the number of people that engage in your desired call to action, such as a form being filled out or an order being placed.

To get more sales/conversion from your website can be achieved in one of two ways, one you either add more and more traffic to your site to get more sales through better conversion. Second, improve on the sites design to get better conversion out of the visitors you get. I have worked for plenty of companies that simply increased the  budget to try and attract the right amount of business from their website, but if your like me you need to be careful with how much you spend and make sure you have a site that performs at its best.

A/B Split testing is best accomplished through a solution form Google, where their application will deliver different content of versions of elements to your visitors while measuring the results that lead up to a conversion, enabling you to see what works and what doesn’t.

Things you should consider testing in your A/B Split testing are;
