If you need a Business card you need a website

I came across this blog post today, and although its from Australia I think it is relevant anywhere, She describes the tendency to small local businesses not needing a website, because they don’t market to the “world”. Her response was that any business can benefit from having an online presence, “if you need a business card then you need a website”.


I can’t agree more, it isn’t uncommon for a customer to research your business online. And what they find can help influence their buying decision.

You don’t need a huge website with tons of features. A simple splash page that can help validate that your business is in fact “in business” is really all that is needed.


In addition I have recently designed a couple of websites, that the owners of the site described they didn’t need or want SEO work done because they intend to drive traffic to the site from networking. I found this interesting, and now I realize that website’s can serve two purposes, one as a lead generation tool, through online marketing you can drive traffic to your website, hoping to attract new business. Then the second is to have an online presence that you can refer people to, as a way to validate your business.


No Matter which approach is right for you, there is no doubt a professional looking website can really improve your business.
