Content Management Systems for a Flash Only Website

by Noel Wiggins

FlashMoto

It is no surprise that I am not a fan of flash, well I used to be but it has broken my heart on many occasions. There is still the desire for us to be friends again some day, but it has to know that it has to change a lot in order to win me back.

There is a new content management solution that I can across today that has potential for me to look into developing flash sites again. One of my biggest issues with designing Flash Sites is that they are complicated to maintain. Even in sites that I have created from scratch, it is impossible to streamline the workflow to a logical progression to make the simplest of adjustments. And forget about creating something that is easily maintained by a non technical client. (Which I would prefer, I’d am a designer that would rather have the clients maintain their own content, instead of coming to me every-time there is a simple change) The fun part is making the design!

Anywhoot, there is a solution that boast that it can make flash sites that have a “wow” factor fully editable by the non technical person. I checked it out briefly and yes I think they may be able to do it. My desire is to try and add this functionality to designs that I have created from scratch. because the downside to this solution is that I would have to buy a template created by someone else for someone else who markets to someone else. “There is nothing professional” about that. Ever project should be unique to the client and project.

I have put an S.O.S. out to the company for more information and stay tuned, I do hope that me and flash can be friends once again. Check it out at http://www.flashmoto.com/blog/project-news/10-must-see-flash-photo-galleries-powered-by-flashmoto-flash-cms/

I also came across this resource as an alternative to having a flash based portfolio website that is easy to maintain…
