Being online isn’t enough, if you have a pet project or a business you are looking to have marketed online, hopefully you understand that being online alone isn’t enough. The internet at its full stride, we are no longer in the dot com bubble that believed that by haveing a website alone customers will bust down the door.
In the dot com days folks believed that the internet was going to replace all forms of marketing, and I have to say that the recent buzz about social media is sounding very similar.

I have recently created a value added service to my clients, that can help alert them when a popular holiday or seasonal event is coming up that would be a good reason for a promotion. This alert is to save on the last minute panic and scrabble that comes from not being prepared.
I recently had a client ask me why would I do this or care about this?
And I appreciate the questioning of the concept. I came up with this as a response.

I had a thought today that I realized would be a great entry for the blog.
Before I go on I think it would be fair to say I am not overly concerned with politics and issues related to them so I hope this doesn’t inpire a political debate, because I will surely loose. But here is the idea. I was watching my favorite “boring show” Sunday Morning and while we where updating our coffee I noticed a political ad for a Governor David Paterson election ad. I was moved by its sincerity and felt it was an effective ad, But what I didn’t understand was was this ad for re-election or was it a random public service type of ad.

If your looking for something to spice up your marketing strategy then you have to consider mobile marketing. There have been a lot of reports lately all over that “old technology” the “hellivision” reporting that the next best thing will be mobile phone applications. There was some vague stat of like 400 apps when we bought our phones (Aug of 2008) and now there is over 2 million apps now. And there seems to be no sign of stopping. In fearing that I might miss out on something I have put on my research and development list the task of looking into the technology that can develop apps for mobile phones, both for iphones and whatever system is used for verizons new “droid”.
