Call to action Forms

by Noel Wiggins

Here is a great littl etutorial on how to make that form look slick!

http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/html-css-techniques/design-a-prettier-web-form-with-css-3

I came across a great blog today that showcases how to validate forms for your website.

http://sixrevisions.com/user-interface/best-practices-for-hints-and-validation-in-web-forms

Not only is this a great resource for excellent tips in validation the actual samples will prove to be great inspirada for the form design.
In most if not all websites the most critical elements is this sign up or get a quote form. And knowing how to give the best user experence for the end user and the website owner is important for the success of your project.
Personally I have been using spry in dreamweaver for form validation and the server side “email vaildation” that prevents spiders from finding the form.
I want to try out the javascript realtime validation but am worried about w3.org validation errors…

Style Guide example for website design

by Noel Wiggins

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2010/02/a_new_global_visual_language_f.html

Above is a link to a style guide example and a chronology of a website design process for BBC.

What I love about this post is that it exposes the creative process from the problem to the solution.

Companies nowadays, don’t have as big of a need for a “new” website for their business, but rather a better designed one. A company typically starts out with a modest watered down, basic foundation for what they believe their website should represent. And because the website is a living breathing thing, something you can tweak on a monthly, weekly, or even daily basis, the website over time will begin to look disconnected. Especially if you have different teams working on the tweaks both internally or externally.

Color inspirada for design projects

by Noel Wiggins

By Now everyone should be aware of adobe’s kulor. and the tools included in the adobe creative suite cs4.

But here is a list of color palette tools that are truly inspirational.

Particularly when you can upload an image and they will either show you what the color is made of, and/or have the ability to develop a palete that compliments an uploaded image…

website design inspirada grouped by industry & style

by Noel Wiggins

I came across this site a while back and forgotten about it, since I have been creating my own collection of samples to refer to for inspirada, But what I have always struggled with is grouping the samples into categories, and behold this site is awesome because of its filtering feature. It is sure to be my starting point for any new web project…

Here is a great round up some ideas to explore for your call to action form for your website design.

by Noel Wiggins

I agree that a form is probably the most important element to a website design, its most likely the primary goal for the site even being built. designing a form to be engaging and not compete with the design is a challenge and here are some great examples to guide you in the right direction.

I would just add a warning don’t get so creative that a user doesn’t really understand what to do. One of my favorite forms I ever designed was this cool flash form that the fields animated out and the font was a custom font and not one fomr was filled out when I changed the form to a typical form most people are used to seeing then leads started to come in.
