Being online simply isn’t enough
by
Being online isn’t enough, if you have a pet project or a business you are looking to have marketed online, hopefully you understand that being online alone isn’t enough. The internet at its full stride, we are no longer in the dot com bubble that believed that by haveing a website alone customers will bust down the door.
In the dot com days folks believed that the internet was going to replace all forms of marketing, and I have to say that the recent buzz about social media is sounding very similar.
I believe companies can do well with marketing their business online, I firmly believe there is no greater time to be in business. But simply being online isn’t good enough, A company has to be smart with how the business will leverage how the website will work. And one of the most critical elements is the “call to action”. A call to action is unique to every business. In a many cases people think a call to action would be “more sales” But if your business doesn’t have an ecommerce solution then how will that work?.
In the design industry I want people to fill out a quote form, whereas my ideal client would rather just pick up the phone and have me write all the details together in a proposal. So having a quote form doesn’t work as well as my call to action simply being give me a call and I will help you out. Along with resources and samples of my client work along with credentials.
So when you are sitting there thinking you want to push your project online first visualize what you want the customer to do, is it to schedule a meeting? Or to try and purchase something or simply to visit a particular page that “tells your pitch”.
